FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composite articles, for example fibre-reinforced composite articles with improved ballistic characteristics. Composite article includes a plurality of fibres at least partially embedded within a matrix. At least one of matrices and at least one of plurality of fibres is formed from at least one thermoplastic material, thermosetting polymer. Said fibres can be linked with matrix at a certain (controlled) degree of adhesion. Degree of adhesion between fibres and matrix can be spatially varied inside composite article. For example, degree of adhesion can vary along length of one of fibres. Degree of adhesion can also vary in fibres of a given layer. Further, degree of adhesion can vary between fibres of article.
EFFECT: invention allows to produce composites of various configuration with improved ballistic properties.
