FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, specifically to storage of fruit for determination of predisposition of apples to bitter pitting. For this purpose, content of potassium and calcium and their ratio in skin of apples in period of growth and prior to storage is determined. Method of determining predisposition of apples to bitter pitting during storage is characterised by that it includes determining content of K and Ca, mg/100 g in outer epidermis apples; optimum ratio of K and Ca is within 10.2-13.0; if ratio K/Ca increases, onset of bitter pitting is predicted. Need for foliar treatment of fruit trees with calcium-containing preparations determined based on ratio K/Ca during growth of fruits. Optimal ratio of K and Ca must be within 10.2-13.0.

EFFECT: using disclosed method simplifies prediction of storage life of apples, provides possibility of predicting disease before fruit for storage, as well as objective determination of fruit picking-up life based on level of content of potassium and calcium in skin apples and their ratios, helping to reduce losses during storage.
