FIELD: oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for control of technical state of oil and gas wells. Present invention consists in that method of determining corrosion of casing strings in producing wells includes measurement of thickness of casing string in well bore by pulse electromagnetic flaw detection, additionally recording amplitude of low-frequency acoustic noise at which are selected intervals of behind-casing flows of liquid, in detected intervals of flows at low values of total EMF of pulses of magnetic permeability and electrical conductivity of casing string determining its thickness and by comparing it with thickness of neighbouring non-overflow interval defined based on absence of acoustic noise, wherein thickness of casing string is lowered only due to corrosion of its inner wall based on difference between said thicknesses corrosion is evaluated on outer side of column.
EFFECT: technological outcome is possibility of determining external corrosion.
