FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to data storage devices, protected from forgery, and methods for counterfeit protection of printed products, such as securities, banknotes, paper and polymer identity cards. Invention describes a multilayer article that is protected against forgery. It has at least one base layer and a layer having an image of a periodic raster, that is applied on top of the base layer, an intermediate transparent layer and a layer with the raster arranged on top of it. Mutual arrangement of the rasters forms a moire pattern, which changes when viewed at different angles, The angles create this difference, since some variable graphic information is entered on one of the aforementioned layers, wherein the moire pattern is irreversibly distorted in the area where the variable information is applied, that makes it impossible to introduce any subsequent changes to the variable information or forge it. Mutual arrangement of the graphic element rasters and images with the variable information enables the change of the moire image that is formed by the graphic element rasters, in the area where personal data is located and provides the protection of the variable information from complete or partial forgery.
EFFECT: issue solved by the invention - a better protection of items from unauthorised use.
