SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and mobile monitoring system for monitoring use of an absorbent product. Invention also relates to a mobile device for said monitoring system and a computer program for enabling implementation of said method by mobile device and monitoring system. Invention provides a method of monitoring use of absorbent product (15), such as an incontinence pad or a diaper, worn by user (14). Method comprises a step of detecting (S4), by means of an odour sensor device (3a; 3b) located away from absorbent product (15) can be carried by user (14) and configured to communicate with mobile device (2) of user, at least one chemical indicative of a presence of urine and/or faeces in product. It further comprises steps of transmitting (S5) a signal indicative of said detection from odour sensor device (3a;3b) to mobile device (2), receiving (S6) signal in mobile device (2), and providing (S7), by means of mobile device, product-related information to user based on signal.

EFFECT: in this way, user (14) can be provided with valuable information related to use of product (15), for example recommendations on when to change product, displayed on mobile device.
