Method of facilitating detection of presence of an item, an alternative to at least one desired item in place of storage, comprising: capturing at least one image or video sequence or real-time video stream, representing storage place by an image capturing device, identification of any presence of desired item; presentation of information, associated with location of said desired item; and when desired item is not captured by said image capturing device, providing a notification on at least one alternative item, wherein step of providing notification on said alternative item is associated with information, associated with location of said alternative item in place of storage, or information relating to said alternative item, which is accessible to a user, but is not accessible at given moment in said place of storage, or which is not located in field of view of said capturing device.
EFFECT: technical result is improved search for an item, an alternative to desired item in place of storage.
