FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method of processing electronic documents involves obtaining image of at least part of document; detection within image of polygonal object having a visually distinct border including multiple sides of one or several intersecting rectangles; and classification of detected polygonal object as image screenshot based on evaluation of at least one condition of verifying hypothesis on screenshot associated with one or more attributes of detected polygonal object, where attributes revealed polygon include type, composition and/or mutual location of detected primitive objects.
EFFECT: technical result consists in possibility of detection on an image of document a polygonal object related to screenshot.
