FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for tracking and detection of cracks and fractures in railway rails. Invention provides identifying propagation modes and frequency signals, which potentially will cover long distances through structural element of extended length; selecting suitable propagation mode and working frequency; designing sensor, which is configured to excite the selected mode at selected frequency; numerically modelling sensor being connected to structural element of extended length; and analysing the frequency characteristic of selected mode of propagation to excite by sensor to check sensor configuration.
EFFECT: technical result provides possibility of optimisation of transmitting and receiving signals, as well as dimensions of sensor.
