SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a system and a method of detecting a remote train in motion along a railway track. Safety system for detecting a train comprises one or more sensor modules, made with possibility of attachment on at least one railway track rail. Each of said one or more sensor modules is configured to detect a first signal, caused by moving train and propagating through said rail, and output of first sensor output signal. System also comprises a control unit comprising a signal processor, implemented by computer and configured to receive said first sensor output signal, said first signal from each of said one or more sensor modules, and processing said first sensor output signal. At that, signal processor comprises envelope detector, configured to detect envelope signal of said first sensor output signal from each of said one or more sensor modules, and envelope signals comparator, configured to compare a time interval of said envelope signal detected from said first sensor output signal from at least one of said sensor modules, with given envelope signal. Said signal processor is configured to generate a train warning signal indicating an approaching train, when said envelope signal has more and more high amplitude than said specified envelope signal during said time interval. Said train warning signal represents characteristics of said moving train based on characteristics of said first sensor output signals. Disclosed also is a method of detecting a remote train in motion along a railway track.
