FIELD: pipes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for detection of defects at manual and automatic control. Core of the invention is that excited is by means of an ultrasonic transducer in a contact medium a longitudinal wave pulse, which falls onto the surface of the control object at an angle, the value of which exceeds the first critical angle and smaller than the second critical angle, analyzed is the amplitude of registered echo signals. According to the invention, in order to increase accuracy of estimating the defects depth measured is the angle of incidence of ultrasonic pulses onto the surface of the control object, measured is the amplitude of the maximum echo signal and the amplitude of echo signal at the angle of input of 45…50°, and the depth of defect is detected by value of difference of the measured amplitudes.
EFFECT: technical result is upgraded reliability of diagnostic data when evaluating the depth of fine cracks in a pipeline during ultrasonic non-destructive inspection.
