FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: substance of invention consists in the fact that piezoelectric transducers are located along the whole pipeline circumference on the ultrasonic section of the in-tube inspection device, wherein the acoustic axes of the piezoelectric transducers are located normally to the pipeline axis, wherein using features of propagation of ultrasonic pulse in liquid and solid media, as well as its reflection from media interface, measuring wall thickness of pipeline section by determining local wall thickness of pipeline section, for which data are selected representing the thickness of the wall of the section of the pipeline, from which the most frequent value of thickness of the wall of the pipeline section is selected, the range of values of changes in thickness of the wall of the pipeline section is determined with maximum frequency, further, intervals preceding and following the range of values of wall thickness variation of the pipeline section with maximum frequency are found; and determining the range, and the obtained value is compared to the value obtained at the previous iteration, wherein if the values differ, the determination of the value of the variation range of the wall thickness of the pipeline section is repeated with the highest frequency, and if the values match, the local wall thickness of the section of the pipeline is determined.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining thickness of a wall of a pipeline.
