SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system, a method and a memory module for optical character recognition. Method involves splitting an image into blocks, which contains a mathematical expression, and subsequent optical recognition of the blocks for decomposition of the mathematical expression image into multiple versions of optical character recognition ordered according to the weight value as per OCR, selecting the most probable path basing on the weight value for a path among potentially possible paths, where the path corresponds to a group of characters on the mathematical expression image and the ordered multiple versions of the character recognition on this image, use of the most probable path and the ordered multiple versions of the character recognition to generate a representation in the digital formate of the mathematical expression contained on the image, where the most probable path selected basing on the weight value contains data on the group of characters and the versions of their recognition, and saving the represented in the digital formate mathematical expression in the memory module.

EFFECT: technical result is improvement of reliability of optical recognition of mathematical expressions.
