FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the scintillator for use in radiation detector. Scintillator for high temperature environments comprises a colquiriite-type crystal of formula LiM1M2X6, where M1 is selected from alkali-earth elements Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba; M2 is selected from Al, Ga and Sc; X is halogen. Example of crystal is colquiriite of type LiCaAlF6. Crystal can contain an element from a group of lanthanides, such as Ce or Eu. Invention also describes a radiation detector, which contains said scintillator and a photodetector, and method of detecting radiation using same.

EFFECT: invention provides a scintillator with good photoemission characteristics in high-temperature conditions that allow its use for neutron detection and measurement of radiation in high-temperature conditions.
