FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in positron emission tomographs, in geophysical investigations of wells, as well as in safety systems. Scintillator has wavelength of radiation greater than 200 nm, maximum radiation at 320–460 nm and chemical formula AD(BO3)X2:E, where A is Ba, Ca, Sr, La or a combination thereof, D—Al, Ga, Mg or a combination thereof, X—F, Cl or a combination thereof, E—Ce or a combination of Ce and Li. Content of cerium in scintillator is 0.5–10 at. %. Examples of said scintillator are (Ba,Ca) (Al,Ga) (BO3)F2: (Ce,Li), Ba Ga (BO3)F2: (Ce,Li), LaMg (BO3)F2: Ce. Scintillator may be monocrystalline. Device for detecting high-energy radiation in harsh environmental conditions comprises said scintillator monocrystal, emission efficiency of which at temperature over 150 °C exceeds 60 % of efficiency of monocrystal emission at room temperature. To detect high-energy radiation using a scintillation detector, said scintillator monocrystal receives said radiation and forms photons which are characteristic of said radiation, which are detected using a photodetector connected to said monocrystal-scintillator.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain moisture-resistant scintillators with high light output, fast afterglow and good resolution.
