SUBSTANCE: invention discloses surge protection device (10, 110) for an outdoor lighting fixture that includes live connection (23A, 123A), neutral connection (23B, 123B), and ground connection (23C, 123C). First varistor (42) and second varistor (43) may be electrically connected to one another in a series connection between live and neutral connections and third varistor (41) electrically connected between live and neutral connections in a parallel configuration with first varistor and second varistor. Surge arrestor (46, 146) may also be electrically connected between ground connection (23C, 123C) and series connection between first varistor and second varistor.

EFFECT: technical result is providing surge protection in lighting devices.
