FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a surge protection arrangement and a surge protection method. Result is achieved in that electronic device (3) comprises heat-dissipating load (10) thermally connected to heat sink (107) of load (10), and arrangement (1) comprises at least one high impedance arrangement (ZHI, ZHI_N, ZHI_P) connected in series with load (10); at least one low impedance arrangement (ZLO, ZLO_N, ZLO_P) connected in parallel with load (10); and ground connection (FE) arranged to electrically connect heat sink (107) and low impedance arrangement (ZLO, ZLO_N, ZLO_P); wherein high-impedance arrangement (ZHI, ZHI_N, ZHI_P) is realised to prevent common-mode surge current (Is) from entering the load (10), and low- impedance arrangement (ZLO, ZLO_N, ZLO_P) is realised to facilitate common-mode surge current (Is) to bypass load (10) into ground connection (FE). Invention further describes electronic device (3) comprising load (10) with a number of heat-dissipating components (100) thermally connected to heat sink (107) of load (10); driver (20) realised to drive load (10); and such surge protection arrangement (1). Invention also describes driver (20) realised to drive LED lighting circuit (10) and comprising such surge protection arrangement (1); and a method of providing protection against common-mode surge current (Is) through electronic device (3) comprising heat-dissipating load (10) thermally connected to heat sink (107) of load (10).

EFFECT: technical result is to provide reliable surge protection without changing the EMI driver suppression system.
