SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems to allow access to distributed file system for local caching of meta data catalogue. Disclosed is method of local caching meta data catalogue, which describes obtaining request from application on meta data catalogue. In response to receiving request, request for meta data catalogue is sent to server. At that, directory descriptor is requested, lease for local caching meta data catalogue is carried out for local caching of meta data catalogue until server cancels lease. Key, which is connected to first catalogue, including requested meta data and directory key is created associated with second catalogue, wherein first catalogue is included in second catalogue. At that, processing request for lease reading performs local caching of meta data catalogue and servicing of requests received from application requesting meta data catalogue. System for implementation of method of local caching directory meta data, includes processor, machine-readable data medium, which stores executable instructions, which, upon execution of at least one processor are performing method.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing local caching of meta data catalogue.
