SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding/decoding video. Method of decoding video comprises steps of receiving a bit stream relative to the encoded video and its syntactical analysis; receiving data of coding units structure indicating the size and variable depth of a coding unit, and information relative to encoded depth and encoding mode relative to the coding units having a tree image structure; determining the coding units having a tree structure based on data of coding units structure and information relative to encoded depth and encoding mode and decoding the image based on the coding units; herewith the data of coding units structure contains information relative to the minimum size of the coding unit and information on change of the coding unit depth.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of compressing and decoding images.
