Method of decoding video comprises receiving a bitstream with respect to an encoded video and obtaining information on structure of coding unit, information on splitting coding unit and information on prediction mode. Method includes determining coding units obtained by hierarchical splitting from maximum coding unit, and determining prediction unit from current coding unit. Current coding unit is decoded by performing prediction with respect to prediction unit in accordance with prediction mode.

EFFECT: high efficiency of image compression and, consequently, high efficiency of encoding and decoding image.
