FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and concerns method of selenium in water determining. Proposed method consists in fact that adds to analysed solution 0.4 ml solution of 3 % alkaline sodium borohydride reducing agent is closed with plug, shaken and left for 5 minutes for selenium recovery to hydrogen selenide. Then added with 2.0 ml of 2.3-diamino naphthalene (DAN) with weight ratio of 0.1 % and added in portions by 2 ml of hexane and shaken by 1 min, transferred into separating funnel for stratification and separation of phases, transferred onto filter and filtered in test tube with previous portion, alternately 4-5 times extraction for quantitative extraction of selenium hydride complex with DAN, then combined extract is subjected to fluorimetry.
EFFECT: use of method enables high-accuracy determination of selenium concentration in drinking water.
