SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of starting electric motors. Method of repeated switching on a vehicle asynchronous traction electric motors at rundown involves setting thrust or braking mode and initial values of frequency and voltage of engines power supply and then correcting these values by setting the required torque. Herewith the initial values of frequency specified are its maximum value when the thrust is on and the minimum value when braking. In the process of correction the maximum value is gradually reduced, and the minimum one is increased, with continuing the correction to achieve a synchronous frequency corresponding to the electric motor rotation frequency.

EFFECT: technical result is simplification of the algorithm of control over the traction electric drive at rundown with a transition to the thrust or braking mode.
