FIELD: image processing means.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing for suppressing or reducing noise in an input image. Method and device for image processing are proposed, where the display device extracts a region including the target pixel from the input image and determines whether noise boundary is included in the defined area. For a positive response, display device performs filtration using a smoothing filter for smoothing target pixel. For a negative response, display device performs filtration using edge-preserving smoothing filter for smoothing target pixel. Display device determines whether to apply result of smoothing process using edge-preserving smoothing filter, based on pixel values in said certain area, the result of smoothing process using edge-preserving smoothing filter etc.

EFFECT: providing high accuracy of detecting multiple types of noise in input image and suppressing or reducing noise.
