FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space engineering, particularly to methods of intensification and control of internal ballistic characteristics of hybrid rocket engines. When increasing a hybrid rocket engine thrust, mass consumption of a solid-phase fuel component, which is polymethyl methacrylate, is changed by affecting the charged particles in flame. For this purpose, an electrostatic field is created in a combustion chamber of the hybrid rocket engine by means of a high-voltage system, including a high-voltage source and two electrodes.
EFFECT: invention increases the combustion rate of solid fuel component in the combustion chamber and increases the hybrid rocket engine thrust.
