FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a method of producing 2-alkyl-2-imidazolines, involving reaction of carboxylic acid with ethylenediamine while heating in presence of a catalyst, according to invention carboxylic acid used is acetic, butyric, isobutyric, valeric or isovaleric acid, catalyst used is copper nanoparticles or 50 % aqueous suspension of iron oxide Fe3O4, and reaction is carried out at 80 °C in benzene medium with azeotropic distillation of water in molar ratio of carboxylic acid:ethylenediamine:catalyst equal to 1:1.2-1.5:0.008-0.025.
EFFECT: simple method of producing 2-alkyl-2-imidazolines, which can be used as corrosion inhibitors.
