SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a monobenzoate plasticizer, namely to 3-phenylpropyl-benzoate suitable for use as a plasticizer in dispersions of polymers, to polymer adhesive compositions, including water and solution based, as well as the ones suitable for use in packing adhesives, mounting adhesives, in laminates, envelopes, packs for food products, carpentry adhesive, structural adhesives, for assembling electronic articles containing the said monobenzoate plasticizer, to mixtures of plasticizers containing the said monobenzoate plasticizer, latex adhesive, a packing and sealing composition containing the said monobenzoate plasticizer, to a method for providing the viscosity characteristic, improving the film setting time at the edges when using the said monobenzoate plasticizer. Monobenzoate corresponding to the present invention is a non-phthalate alternative plasticizer with low content of volatile organic compounds, compatible with multiple various polymers. Advantages provided by using the monobenzoate corresponding to the present invention cover, inter alia, excellent viscosity characteristic, low viscosity, stability of viscosity, improved rheological properties, good film-formation and comparable or improved adhesion, peeling strength, setting time, film setting time at the edges, chalking temperature and minimum temperature of film forming in comparison with corresponding parameters provided by traditional plasticizers.

EFFECT: monobenzoate corresponding to the present invention also has excellent characteristics with respect to sanitation, safety and environmental protection and represents a viable alternative to adhesives used in applications including contacting with food products, for example, when packing food products, where transfer of adhesive is a problem.
