FIELD: nuclear industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear industry and chemical engineering of inorganic substances and can be used for producing uranium tetrafluoride by dry method in production of uranium hexafluoride or metallic uranium. Method of producing uranium tetrafluoride involves mixing uranium dioxide with ammonia bifluoride and carbamide, produced mixture is treated at temperature higher than carbamide boiling point but lower than ammonium bifluoride boiling point with subsequent holding at this temperature until double salt is produced, and subsequent heat treatment at temperature 500-600 °C with holding at this temperature in vacuum or inert atmosphere to produce uranium tetrafluoride.
EFFECT: invention provides production of conditioned uranium tetrafluoride with output of not less than 98 %, as well as simplified process of its production.
