FIELD: materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a tester of materials hardness, particularly to a compact device for determining hardness with a digital display. Tester comprises a magnetic holder, a support, a device for measuring force, an indenter, an electronic printed-circuit board, a digital display and a device for force application and measuring the depth of an indent consisting of a handwheel, a turning angle code sensor and a micrometric screw pair. Support is equipped with a turning angle code sensor. Micrometric nut is installed in a hole. Digital display is located at the front. Support is fixed onto the magnetic holder. Inside the micrometric nut there is a micrometer screw. Rotary shaft of the turning angle code sensor is connected with the micrometric screw and is rotated synchronously with the micrometric screw. Upper end of the micrometric screw is connected with the handwheel, and the lower end is connected with the force measurement device. Lower end of the force measuring device is connected to the indenter. Handwheel, the micrometer screw, the force measuring device and the indenter are interconnected and are coaxial and able to move in the axial direction together with rotation of the handwheel.

EFFECT: technical result is simple design, ease of reading, ease of control, high accuracy, ability to be used in the place of operation, fast determination of hardness of large parts and measurement of Brinnel hardness and Vickers hardness by measuring the depth.
