FIELD: mechanical engineering, construction industry and metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: indenter is penetrated into tested material. Transducer records kinematic characteristics of impact penetration: maximum penetration depth, maximum negative penetration velocity, maximum positive penetration velocity, maximum negative acceleration and maximum positive acceleration. Magnitudes of penetration velocity during penetration of indenter are continuously transmitted by analog-to-digital converter into electronic device and are processed there by program complexes of it. Mechanical properties obtained from laws of distribution of data of mechanical properties with allowance for their scattering are determined. Small sample for statistic control is formed and output form containing maximum, minimum and average magnitudes of all mechanical characteristics with indication of errors of their determination is prepared. Gear for implementation of method includes indenter and transducer recording kinematic characteristics of impact penetration, analog-to-digital converter and electronic device in the form of portable computer incorporating program complexes that process signals from transducer, define laws of distribution of mechanical characteristics, process samples for statistic control and carry out strength analysis.
