UNIVERSAL NEUTRON TUBE WITH ELECTRO-THERMAL INJECTORS OF WORKING GAS Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC H05H3/06

Abstract RU 2601961 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vacuum and gas-filled neutron tubes and can be used in neutron tubes, intended for exploration of wells by neutron logging. Said results are achieved by that ion source is based on combined discharge, and sources of deuterium and/or tritium are made in form of a conductor of deuterium(tritium) saturated hybrid-forming metal or composite or (preferably) in form of thin-layer coating from deuterium(tritium) saturated hybrid-forming metal or composite on a conductor from metal or alloy with high ohmic resistance (stainless steel of nichrome, fechral etc). Extraction of hydrogen isotopes is carried out by thermal desorption with direct heating of isotope-saturated conductor or conductor with applied thin-layer isotope-saturated coating with pulses of electric current in pulse-periodic mode.

EFFECT: technical result is improved control of thermal desorption of working gas, longer life, higher degree of ionisation of working gas and neutron output, reduced impurity ions, as well as possibility of programming desorption parameters of deuterium and tritium, which broadens neutron logging capabilities raises level of radiation safety.
