FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making electrodes for vacuum neutron tubes (VNT) and can be used in acceleration equipment, in logging instrument making, for example in pulsed neutron generators for exploration of wells by pulsed neutron logging. Disclosed method comprises, under vacuum conditions, depositing onto a workpiece a film coating of hydride-forming metal or metals using highly ionised metal plasma and simultaneously saturating deposited material or materials with an isotope or mixture of hydrogen isotopes. Degree of saturation of deposited material or materials with an isotope or mixture of hydrogen isotopes and ratio of chemical components in deposited materials or materials is controlled by selecting temperature of workpiece in range from -200 °C to 800 °C, values of streams on workpiece of deposited material or materials and isotope or a mixture of hydrogen isotopes in range ratios of value of total flow of deposited material to value of total flow of hydrogen isotopes from 0.1 to 10.
EFFECT: technical result is simplification of technology of making electrodes, higher stability and longer service life of VNT.
