FIELD: electric engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for generation of plasma, more specifically to an electric discharge pulse sources of plasma ions for operation in vacuum neutron tubes, and can be used in acceleration equipment or in logging instrument making, for example in pulsed neutron generators of economic purposes, intended for exploration of wells by pulsed neutron logging. As ion source for neutron tube, which consists of coaxial cathode saturated hydrogen isotope, igniter electrode, separated from the cathode and anode, insulator, igniter electrode and cathode working part are located on one surface of insulator, and non-working part of cathode is located on opposite side of insulator, thus forming capacitor plates which are igniter electrode with surface of insulator, which develops igniting discharge, and non-working part of cathode, thickness of insulator (d) is selected from the ratio C 0 = ε 0 ε d = 10 5 ÷ 10 6 F / m 2 , where C0 is specific surface capacity, ε0 is electric constant ε is dielectric permeability.

EFFECT: technical result is increase in magnitude and stability of generated by neutron flux, as well as longer service life of vacuum neutron tube.
