METHOD FOR POLYMERISATION OF (METH)ACRYLIC ACID IN SOLUTION, OBTAINED SOLUTIONS OF POLYMERS AND USE THEREOF Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC C08F20/06 C08F2/38 C08L33/02 C09C3/04 C09C3/10

Abstract RU 2602075 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing (meth)acrylic acid polymer without using a solvent, capable of generating volatile organic compounds. Method of producing, without organic solvent, (meth)acrylic acid polymer is carried out in a solution, wherein said polymer has molecular weight below 8000 g/mol and polydispersity IP is between 2 and 3, method includes following steps: a) injecting into a synthesis reactor water and, optionally, a catalyst based on water-soluble salts of metals, b) reactor is heated to temperature of at least 60 °C, c) feeding into reactor, continuously and simultaneously, following compounds: B1) polymerisable (meth)acrylic monomer(s), B2) at least one compound of formula (I):

according to which: X denotes Na, K or H and R denotes an alkyl chain containing 1-5 carbon atoms, B3) initiating a polymerisation system, where number of weight percentages of said compound of formula (I) in relation to number of said (meth)acrylic monomer(s) is between 0.1% and 2.5%. Also disclosed is an aqueous solution of (meth)acrylic acid polymers to obtain a suspension of an inorganic substance and use thereof (versions).

EFFECT: technical result is implementation of method with high conversion of monomers and obtaining a polymer solution with minimum amount of harmful sulphur-containing impurities, which improves environmental aspect of using aqueous polymer solution.
