SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of drilling an oil well. Computer system records a plurality of cases, wherein each case is used with a software system, wherein version of software system is same for each case, each case comprising: a set of input data and identification of a parent case from which input data in case was copied, unless case is an original case, wherein identification of parent case creates a parent/child relationship between case and parent case. Computer system creates a hierarchy of parent/child relationships among plurality of cases. Computer system displays a subset of plurality of cases in response to a search of plurality of cases. Smaller subset of plurality of cases is selected as a chosen model based on model data generated by set of input data for an environment in oil well is to be drilled. Oil well drilling is planned using selected model for creation of a drilling plan.

EFFECT: high efficiency of well drilling.
