FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used for pumping gas from a sealed vessel down to the pressure of about 10-9 mmHg. Penning pump comprises a housing with an inlet branch pipe and a high-voltage input, an electrode and a magnetic systems. Electrode system consists of n anodes and m cathodes, and the magnetic one - of L pairs of magnetic poles. Anodes, cathodes and magnetic poles are located inside the hollow sealed housing from a whole closed wall and the upper and the lower covers so, that their electric and magnetic fields interacting with each other in the best way to pump out the gas coming through the inlet branch pipe inside the housing. Between heteropolar magnetic poles of all L pairs there is the entire electronic system, herewith all n hollow anodes are arranged parallel to the magnetic field, and m cathodes - across the magnetic field on both sides from open ends of the anodes leaving a gap between the anodes and the cathodes. Magnetic system is made composite with changed properties of magnetic poles on the periphery relative to properties of magnetic poles in the center of the magnetic system providing alignment of the magnetic field induction value in the entire working area of the pump.
EFFECT: technical result is faster operation.
