SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of encoding and decoding images. Method comprises: separation of current block into subblocks, extraction, obtaining index and decoding current block; extraction includes: determining whether or not neighbouring block, which is adjacent to each subblock, is included in current block, and if not included in current block, determining neighboring block as a reference block, available for subblock, and when included in current block, determining neighboring block as non-reference block; and extraction of possible version of subblock prediction information from reference block prediction information; and when number of possible versions of prediction information is less than a predetermined number, forming new possible versions without using reference block prediction information, until number of possible versions of prediction information reaches a predetermined number.

EFFECT: high coding efficiency when encoding and decoding images using mutual prediction.
