Herewith the image capturing device includes a light-emitting unit configured to provide by blinking light a notification on the working state of the self timer countdown operation when shooting using the self timer, a mode setting unit configured to set one of multiple working modes, and a control unit configured to control the light-emitting unit to provide a notification on the self timer working state when shooting using the self timer, if the mode setting unit sets the first working mode, and to control the light-emitting unit so, that the notification of the working state of the self timer when shooting using the self timer is not provided, if the mode setting unit sets the second working mode. Disclosed method of controlling the image capturing device having a light-emitting unit configured to provide by blinking light a notification on the working state of the self timer countdown operation when shooting using the self timer, and a mode setting unit configured to set one of multiple working modes contains: the light-emitting unit control stage to provide a notification on the self timer working state when shooting using the self timer, if the mode setting unit sets the first working mode, and to control the light-emitting unit so that the notification of the working state of the self timer when shooting using the self timer is not provided, if the mode setting unit sets the second working mode.

EFFECT: technical result is avoiding the use of an optional light emission during shooting, as well as ensuring the user notification about a shooting operation in continuous repeated shooting.
