FIELD: navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for platform relative navigation of an object using range measurements. Said result is achieved by that four or more transmitters (T1-T4) of positioning signals are located on and/or near a platform of a first object and a second object approaching platform comprises three or more receivers (A1-A3) for receiving the positioning signals, wherein method comprises steps of: performing for each received positioning signal a range measurement between transmitter of positioning signal and receiver of positioning signal, and estimating relative position and relative attitude of a body frame of second object with regard to first object directly by processing range measurements with a state space estimation algorithm, implementing a model of system of first and second object.

EFFECT: high accuracy of navigating an object.
