FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering and specifically to image analysis systems and is intended for use in images data processing. In the method for each image histograms are calculated as per main components of pixel colour, for each window as per each main component of the pixel colour determined are statistical characteristics of colour intensity of the frame image and nine correlation coefficients, determined are average values of the correlation coefficients for groups of frame images, according to a preset criterion of comparing correlation coefficients a decision is taken on belonging of a multimedia data stream video frame to one of the classes: video image frames or insert frames, formed is a new window for identifying the newly received frames in the stream of multimedia data.

EFFECT: technical result is higher probability of reliable detection of frames in a stream of multimedia data during analysis of a sequence of frames with dynamically changing images and intensive change of brightness.
