FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer engineering for the image data analysis and processing. Multimedia data stream frames identification method on the basis of the frame images histograms approximating polynomials coefficients comparison, consists in the fact that, on the basis of the multimedia data stream frames images, generating the observed windows images sequence, consisting of eight frames, in which search for the inserts frames will be performed, for each image determining the pixels color main components pluralities of intensities, for each image calculating the histograms by the pixel color main components, forming the new window for the newly arriving frames identification, wherein determining the frame images histograms approximating polynomials coefficients, deciding on the multimedia data stream video frame belonging to one of the classes: video image frames or insert frames, according to the polynomials coefficients comparison given criterion, which approximate the frame images histograms with the decision making dynamic threshold.

EFFECT: decrease in the inset frame frequency and in the inset frame detection frequency in the multimedia data stream during the frame classes evaluation.
