FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used when extracting scandium from scandium-containing materials. To obtain scandium oxide, sorption is first performed on strongly acidic sulphocationite with a gel or porous structure. Saturated cationite is washed with cerium (IV)-containing nitrate solution with concentration of 1.5–5.0 g/l on cerium (IV) and 35–80 g/l on nitric acid. Washing is performed at a rate of 3–30 beats. vol/h at 20–50 °C. Produced washing solution after separation of cerium (IV) is neutralised with ammonia water to precipitation of scandium. After filtration and washing scandium hydroxide is dissolved in sulphuric acid solution with acidity of 10–15 g/l at temperature of 85 °C. Bringing solution to pH 1.5–4.5 and directing for ionite-carbonate purification of scandium from impurities by sorption scandium with a strongly basic anionite. Further removal of scandium from anionite is carried out with sodium or ammonium carbonate solution at pH 10.1 -10.8 with output of eluate. Scandium hydroxide is precipitated from eluate, filtered for separation of precipitate and subjected to drying and calcination.
EFFECT: higher quality of scandium oxide due to deep purification from impurities of non-rare earth metals.
