FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of preparing catalysts for petrochemical processes, in particular, to a method of preparing-catalysts for alkylation of benzene with ethylene and a method for alkylation of benzene with ethylene using such catalysts, and can be used in producing ethylbenzene. Catalyst based on zeolite ZSM-5 after drying and calcining is additionally treated with steam at atmospheric pressure, temperature of 400–600 °C for 0.5–4 hours, then treated with aqueous solution of dibasic or polybasic carboxylic acid with concentration 0.05–0.5 mol/dm3 at temperature of 50–98 °C for at least 0.5–2.0 hours. Obtained catalyst has mesopore volume of not less than 0.3 cm3/g with average pore diameter of not less than 8 nm. Said catalyst is used in alkylation of benzene with ethylene to obtain ethylbenzene by passing a mixture of benzene with ethylene through reactor. Alkylation is carried out at temperature 370–470 °C, weight ratio of benzene to ethylene (17-27):1, volume rate of feeding benzene 15–19 h-1 and pressure 1.7–2.5 MPa.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of concentration of ethylbenzene and reducing concentration of xylenes in alkylate.
