FIELD: catalytic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: following is proposed: a method of producing a zeolite-containing catalyst for the process of alkylation of benzene with ethylene by mixing powdered zeolite H+ZSM-5 with a binder — pseudoboehmite, moulding the resulting mass into granules, drying and calcining them, characterized in that the mixing of zeolite H+ZSM-5, having: molar ratio SiO2:Al2O3 equal to (180–240):1, crystal size less than 1 micron and containing Na2O not more than 0.04 wt.%, with a binder is carried out in the ratio (70–90):(30–10); after calcination, the granules are treated with a solution of hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 0.05–0.20 mol/dm3 at a temperature of 20–50°C for 0.25–1.0 hours, washed with demineralized water, dried again and calcined. A catalyst for the process of alkylation of benzene with ethylene and the use of a catalyst for the alkylation of benzene are also proposed.
EFFECT: simplification of the method of producing the catalyst, as well as an increase in the concentration of the target product — ethylbenzene and a decrease in the concentration of harmful impurities — xylene isomers in the alkylate.
