SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for determining direction of light side and can be used for oil wells drilling. Method of determining direction of light side is disclosed, comprising steps of: providing at least two bodies with possibility of moving under gravity through medium; position of collision of at least two bodies with device is determined; and direction of light side is determined on basis of comparison of location of collision of at least two bodies. Device for implementation said method is also disclosed, containing source configured to provide bodies with possibility of falling by gravity through medium, device to receive falling bodies and issue signals corresponding to locations of falling of bodies and processor configured to determine direction to East by signals of said device.
EFFECT: proposed invention provides accurate determination of direction relative to cardinal points without using magnetic appliances.
