SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a synergistic herbicidal composition containing (a) penoxsulam and (b) bentazon for weed control in crops. Synergistic herbicidal mixture contains a herbicide-effective amount of (a) penoxsulam and (b) bentazon, or its agriculturally-acceptable salt or ester in which weight ratio of bentazon, or its agriculturally-acceptable salt or ester to penoxsulam ranges from 67:1–333:1. Herbicidal composition contains a herbicide-effective amount of synergistic herbicidal mixture. Weed control method, which involves bringing into contact with vegetation or locus thereof by application to soil or water, herbicide-effective amount of synergistic herbicidal mixture. Methods of protecting rice includes bringing rice into contact with herbicidal mixture.
EFFECT: invention enables to protect crops from weeds.
