FIELD: communication.

SUBSTANCE: this invention relates to network communication technologies. Method includes stages, at which using network element OAM module receiving request for execution of OAM function; generating control initiation message by means of OAM module, wherein control initiation message identifies actions, which shall be taken by OpenFlow switch in OpenFlow switches subset, wherein actions are intended to provide indicators for OpenFlow data stream; sending control initiation message to OpenFlow switch; receiving plurality of response on control messages from OpenFlow switches subset, wherein each of plurality of response on control messages includes indices for OpenFlow data stream; comparing plurality of response on control messages with OAM function request; executing requested OAM function using OpenFlow data stram indicators by means of OAM module; and returning result of requested OAM function.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of data processing speed.
