FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to removal of volatile compounds from a mixture containing a non-volatile polymer and a volatile compound. Technical result is achieved by a method of removing volatile compounds from a mixture containing a non-volatile polymer and a volatile compound to obtain a product containing less than 0.5 wt% of water and less than 0.75 wt% of volatile organic compounds relative to mass of polymer. Said method includes a step where mixture is fed into an extruder comprising a cylinder, one or more extrusion elements arranged inside cylinder, an outlet for removing volatile compounds. Extruder comprises a perforated die plate, attached to cylinder before outlet hole in direction of flow. Mixture is then forced through die plate of said extruder and volatile compounds are removed through outlet hole of said extruder. Non-volatile polymers are halogenated butyl rubbers.
EFFECT: simplified process of removing volatile compounds and reduced labour intensity of drying of finished synthetic rubber.
