FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of separating ethylene, which comprises feeding a stream of material, containing propylene, ethylene and butene, into an ethylene distillation column, having a temperature ranging from 50 to 90 °F and pressure in range from 250 to 350 pounds per square inch, and extraction of ethylene from butene and propylene by fractional distillation inside ethylene distillation column to form an upper stream, containing separated ethylene, and a lower stream, containing separated butene and propylene. Invention also relates to a method of producing propylene using said method.
EFFECT: proposed method reduces energy consumption.
