FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the production of propylene, comprising: (a) providing a catalyst composition comprising: isomerization catalyst comprising MgO; and disproportionating catalyst comprising a transition metal oxide precipitated on a solid support; wherein the weight ratio of the isomerization catalyst to the disproportionating catalyst is from 10:1 to 1:10; and (b) reacting butene with ethylene at a temperature of from 500 °F (260 °C) up to 650 °F (350 °C), in the presence of a catalyst composition and under conditions sufficient to produce propylene; where the temperature is optionally lowered to increase the production of the polymer and reduce the structural decomposition of the catalyst.
EFFECT: proposed process has a reduced number of adverse reactions and a reduced consumption of the catalyst.
