METHOD OF TREATING PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61N1/00

Abstract RU 2609060 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, and namely to endocrinology, and can be used for treating patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) of 2-nd type. Transcranial electrical stimulation with electrical current by rectangular pulses by means of “TRANSAIR-05” is made. During procedures current intensity is smoothly increased under permanent control of patient's sensations. Current intensity of 1.0–2.5 mA. Duration of electric exposure of first procedure is 20 minutes. Starting from second procedure, time of electric exposure is increased up to 30-40 minutes. Electric exposure is performed in frequency-modulated mode FM 77.4±2.8 Hz. Modulating rhythms (Fm) are used in following sequence: rhythm corresponding to beta-rhythm – 20 Hz, 3 minutes, rhythm, corresponding to alpha rhythm – 10 Hz, 5 minutes, rhythm corresponding to theta-rhythm – 5 Hz, 1 minute, rhythm corresponding to delta-rhythm – 2.5 Hz, 1 minute. Electric exposure using modulating rhythms, used in above sequence, is repeated every 10–12 minutes. Therapeutic course is 10–12 procedures performed by 1 daily.

EFFECT: method provides higher clinical effectiveness in DM treatment due to improved properties of carbohydrate metabolism, body weight index, hospital anxiety, depression as result of synchronization of cerebral rhythms, activation of B-endorphin system, leading to improvement of cellular metabolism.
