SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for performing access to a channel in a WLAN system. For this purpose the method is used of controlling NAV by a station (STA) in a wireless local area network (WLAN), wherein the method includes the stages, at which: a frame is received of finishing the non-competitive period (CF-END), which includes a duration field; if the value of the CF-END frame duration field equals to zero, then the NAV is returned into the initial position; and if the value of the CF-END frame duration field is non-zero, then it is determined whether to return the NAV into the initial state, in accordance with the result of comparison between the value of the duration field and the value of the NAV of the said STA.
EFFECT: efficient control of the network distribution vector (NAV) in order to increase efficiency of access to the channel.
